The GPSMAP 3006/3010 series from Garmin feature color TFT, full VGA,
sunlight readable display, and a new high speed RISC processor for
faster chart redraws. The 3006 display measures 6.4" and the 3010 is
10.4", both systems are part of Garmin's new Marine Network. Garmin has
also added two video inputs for Camera input to the display and a VGA
output to display its information on a PC monitor, and there is even a
full numeric keypad which makes entering Lat/Lon numbers easy. This
chartplotter also has a 12 parallel channel WAAS GPS receiver and can
pinpoint your location to within 10 feet*. The GPSMAP 3006/3010 series
also feature a built-in database of tide data for the coastal US and a
basemap with general coverage of North and South America. As you move
you can see yourself on the moving map along with important information
such as speed, heading, distance to destination and more. The GPSMAP
3006/3010 series has dual card slots to accept Garmin's new Bluechart
marine cartography (sold separately) for unmatched chart details
showing detailed coastal outlines, buoys, channels, depth contours,
spot depth soundings, wrecks, port plans and more. Other features
include Large numbers option for easy viewing, a detailed trip
computer, and speed and course filtering.
Garmin Marine Network
The New Garmin Marine Network allows you to connect several options to
your 3006/3010 chartplotters. The GSD-20 is Garmin's remote sounder,
and when added to the 3006/3010 series it will turn the unit into a
combination Chartplotter/Sounder. The new GDL 30 will allow you to get
real time satellite weather(requires the purchase of monthly
service)with information including Current conditions, City forecasts,
NEXRAD radar with precipitation type(animated, high resolution),
Surface air pressure, Surface analysis (Highs, Lows and fronts),
Lightning, Storm cell size, speed and direction, Hurricane track,
Visibility forecast, Wind speed, Sea surface temperature, Wind
direction, Wave period, Wave direction, Wave height, and Buoy data. The
new GDL 30A will have the Satellite weather information as well as XM
Radio capabilities.
*The WAAS signal is currently available in the US only in open areas or
on the water. |
